Jack Smith Investigates Texts From 44 Lawmakers

Jack Smith Won't Back Down From Trump Cases! Former Special Counsel Jack Smith says he remains prepared to revive the federal criminal cases against President Donald Trump once Trump's current term in office comes to an end. Speaking during an interview on MSNBC with anchor Nicolle Wallace, Smith said he believes the cases could proceed after Trump leaves the presidency, when presidential immunity would no longer apply. Smith explained that following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity, prosecutors revised the indictments by removing evidence they believed could no longer be used while retaining evidence they considered legally admissible. According to Smith, his office would not have continued pursuing the prosecutions unless prosecutors believed the remaining evidence could prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
