anadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has pointed out that Saudi Arabia and Türkiye play a crucial role in finding solutions to the ongoing crises in the Middle East, stressing that direct engagement with these regional powers is more effective than public criticism.

During a press conference while visiting Jeddah on Friday, Carney mentioned that real progress in addressing regional conflicts largely hinges on the involvement of Riyadh and Ankara.

“The two most influential countries regarding potential solutions in the Middle East are Saudi Arabia and Türkiye,” Carney said.

Carney emphasized Canada’s strong commitment to developments in the Middle East but argued that constructive dialogue beats criticizing governments from a distance.

He noted that engaging directly with regional leaders doesn’t mean agreeing with all their policies.

“Lecturing countries from a distance is an ineffective strategy,” Carney said. “It may be satisfying, but it is ineffective. Engagement can be effective. That does not mean it will always be decisive, but it can produce results.”
