Many students in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board are gearing up for their next steps, but a few stand out for finishing high school with top-notch academic records.

The Catholic board has revealed its leading Ontario Scholars for the 2025-26 school year, celebrating students from Catholic secondary schools in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon who have excelled while preparing for college or university.

Details about the top scholars from the Peel District School Board are still pending.

At the forefront of this year’s graduates is Nolan Barreto from Loyola Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga, who achieved an impressive average of 99.7 percent. Barreto plans to enroll at the University of Toronto this fall to study Engineering Science.

In Brampton, Davneet Kaur Brar and Michael Francisco from St. Edmund Campion Catholic Secondary School both earned top honors as Ontario Scholars, each with a remarkable average of 99.3 percent.

Brar will pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration at York University, while Francisco will focus on Chemistry at the University of Toronto.

Victoria Yefymenko from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School posted the highest average among students in Bolton, Caledon, and Orangeville areas with a 99 percent score. She’s set to continue her education at the University of Waterloo majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics.

While these four students had the best averages within their communities, the board noted that their achievements reflect the hard work and success of many graduates across the region.

“Congratulations to Nolan, Davneet, Michael, Victoria, and all of our Ontario Scholars on their impressive accomplishments,” said Dr. Marianne Mazzorato, Chief Executive Officer of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.

“Reaching this high level of academic success requires immense hard work, focus, and determination. Their achievements also reflect the vital role of teachers, parents and guardians who supported and motivated them along the way.”

To be named an Ontario Scholar, students must achieve an average of at least 80 percent across their best six Grade 12 courses.

This year saw 4,239 graduates from Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board attain Ontario Scholar status.

Overall, there were 6,789 graduates this year who met the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations and are now ready to embark on their post-secondary journeys.

“This year we celebrate 6,789 DPCDSB graduates who have met the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations and are prepared to begin their post-secondary journey,” said Mazzorato. “We’re very proud of every one of them and wish them success and God’s abundant blessings as they step into the next phase of their lives.”

The following students were acknowledged as top Ontario Scholars at their respective Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board high schools:
