A 49-year-old man has lost his life following an incident described as a workplace accident in Brampton.
Peel Police responded to the scene at 227 Advance Boulevard, close to Tomken and Dixie roads, shortly after 6:30 p. m. on Friday.
According to police, the early investigation indicated that the victim was a tow truck driver who had arrived at an auto body shop and was attempting to unhook a vehicle from his tow truck when the accident took place.
“At some point during that process …our victim ended up underneath the vehicle, and the vehicle did run over him,” said Sgt. Taylor Halfyard.
Efforts were made to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ministry of Labour is now looking into the incident, and police have stated that initial findings suggest this does not appear to be a criminal matter.
