We are heartbroken to share the news of Lisa Mork-Geurts’ passing at the age of 60. She left us peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Lisa was born on August 29, 1965, and grew up in Thunder Bay where she also went to school at Selkirk High School. Her life was dedicated to health and fitness, always striving to help others become their best selves. In her younger years, Lisa excelled as a competitive figure skater with the Fort William Figure Skating Club and honed her skills through extensive training in Toronto via Skate Canada programs. Her love for sports continued throughout her life and turned into a fulfilling career in fitness.
As a personal trainer, Lisa led fitness classes at Confederation College, the 55 Plus Centre, and Current River Recreation Centre. She built a loyal community of clients and friends who admired her enthusiasm, positivity, and genuine concern for their well-being. In addition to group classes, she offered power skating lessons and dryland training for hockey players. Many were inspired by her vibrant energy and commitment to health. Always putting others first, Lisa frequently volunteered at the Dew Drop Inn where she offered kindness and support to those who needed it most.
Lisa had an incredible gift for lifting people’s spirits and motivating them to achieve their goals. People will remember her bright outlook on life, compassion for others, steadfast support, and knack for bringing out the best in everyone around her.
She is survived by her son Brady Geurts (Michaela James); mother Lydia Mork; sister Pamela Myron (Rob Myron); Auntie Clementine Petchenuk; Bill Mork (Brenda), Pat Moore, Mary Ann Mork; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Gary Mork.
The family expresses gratitude to all who have shown love and support during this challenging time. Lisa’s spirit of kindness, service, and encouragement will continue through all the lives she influenced. She lived by this mantra: Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift.. called the present.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. James Panikulam at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Monday July 13th 2026 at noon with visitation an hour before the service starts. The service will be streamed live via St. Agnes’ website – www. stagnesrc. ca. Those wishing to honor Lisa can make donations to the Dew Drop Inn.
