LONDON – Authorities in London, Ont., report that a woman has been charged with criminal negligence after she allegedly crashed her car into a wall of a shopping mall gym last Friday, injuring six people inside.
According to the police, one individual was trapped under the vehicle after it broke through a brick wall at Sherwood Forest Mall and entered a Good Life Fitness gym where classes were taking place.
Seven people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital with various injuries, and four have since been released.
A 59-year-old woman from London has been charged with six counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and appeared in court on Monday.
London Police Chief Thai Truong stated on Friday that investigators have evidence suggesting the vehicle accelerated into the building.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has video footage to reach out to them.
