Jeanne Seguin passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in 1947 in Rawdon, Quebec, Jeanne grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. She was preceded in death by her parents Jean-Louis Thibeault and Cecelia O’Grady, as well as her siblings Colleen, Judith Anne, Leona, Michelle, and Daniel.
Jeanne will be greatly missed by her husband Georges and daughters Deanna (Ryan) and Cheryle (Nathan). She was a proud grandmother to Emma, Keiran, and Lucy; their achievements and experiences brought her immense happiness.
After several moves around Ontario, Jeanne and Georges settled in Sault Ste. Marie in 1982. Affectionately known as Mme Séguin, she dedicated most of her career to teaching French at the former St. Theresa’s Separate School from 1991 to 2004. A passionate reader and knitter, Jeanne enjoyed many adventures with her beloved husband Georges. They loved traveling across North America in their trailer and later found a second home at Hilton Beach where she cherished fishing with her grandchildren and watching sunsets over the water. Believing in giving back to the community, she volunteered with Canadian Blood Services and knitted for the hospital’s neonatal unit.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the amazing team at F. J. Davey Home who provided care filled with respect and compassion for nearly five years.
Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private celebration of life.
Memorial donations can be made to the Adult Day Program at VON Algoma, the F. J. Davey Home Fundraising Committee or the Alzheimer’s Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District.
