Elizabeth (Beth) Grimstead, a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Noma), sister, aunt, niece, sister-in-law, cousin and friend to many passed away peacefully at Andy’s House Hospice in Port Carling on January 2, 2026. Beth’s room at Andy’s was conveniently located across from the Library, which was perfect for a true book lover. Everyone who knew her will fondly remember her cheerful outlook on life, her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor.

Beth was born on February 3, 1952, in North Bay, Ontario. She was the oldest child of Dalton and Barbara Gordon.

Beth discovered her passion for teaching early on. She began her career as an instrumental music teacher at Centennial Senior School in North Bay. Later on, she retired from Gravenhurst Public School where she truly enjoyed guiding young children.

She is survived by her devoted husband Mark and their three sons Andrew (Mais), Jesse (Raisa) and Ben (Emma). Beth radiated happiness whenever she was with her grandchildren Sadie, Jackson, Zane, Sloane and Ellis. She truly was the heart of the Grimstead family.

Beth was predeceased by her parents and brother Dave (Karen) but is survived by brother Brad (Deb) and sister Lynn (Russ).

Beth had many interests including skiing, rowing, participating in the Bracebridge United Church Bell Choir, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking and gardening. She loved to travel too. Before her health declined she went on a cruise to Alaska with the Bell Choir and attended Andrew and Mais’s wedding in Amman, Jordan with granddaughter Sadie. She also toured England and Scotland with Mark and friends. Beth supported Mark through various work adventures in Florida and Tennessee even when they didn’t know where their travels would lead them. Everything always worked out well thanks to Beth’s steady support.

The Grimstead family has countless people and organizations to thank for supporting Beth through over thirteen years of battling cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. To begin with we appreciate Dr. Kim Forester, Dr. Julius Toth, Dr. Shaquille Kassam along with the medical teams at Stronach Cancer Centre and South Muskoka Hospital. We are grateful to the Alzheimer’s Society of Muskoka as well as VON Adult Day program; also thanks to all the PSWs and Nurses from Gravenhurst Paramed Care Partners along with Palliative Care Director Treena Aliberti for her caring guidance.

In the later stages of her journey Beth received compassionate care from the amazing team at Andy’s House Hospice who made sure that during her final weeks she felt love joyfulness peace.

To everyone including friends family members we have been truly touched by your kindness love.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral Service: Saturday March 7 at 11am at Bracebridge United Church 46 Dominion Street Bracebridge Ontario.

Celebration of Life: Saturday March 7 from 1-4pm at Canadian Raceboat Hall of Fame Museum & The Venue 1512 Hwy 118W Bracebridge Ontario.

If you would like please consider making a donation in Beth’s name to one of those organizations mentioned above.
