St. Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie, and the Niagara Region will benefit from this funding through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream initiative. The funding breakdown includes: $3.8 million for the Martindale Pond Weir Rehabilitation project in St. Catharines; $10.7 million for improvements to Broadway Area Sanitary, Water and Storm Infrastructure in Welland; $4.5 million to replace a watermain along Colony Road, Windmill Point Lane, and Staniland Park Road in Fort Erie; and $24.5 million allocated for upgrades to primary treatment at the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Regional Municipality of Niagara. “As we continue to navigate economic uncertainty, our government is protecting Ontario by investing in critical infrastructure that drives growth, creates jobs and strengthens communities,” said the Acting Minister of Infrastructure Todd Mc Carthy in a statement. “Through our historic $4 billion Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, we are giving communities, including those across the Niagara Region, the help they need to deliver more homes, modernize aging water systems and lay the foundation for long-term prosperity.” WATCH MORE: St. Catharines kicks off 150th birthday celebrations at Montebello Park Previous CHCH News Niagara police arrest man suspected to be involved in Niagara Falls shooting Next CHCH News Bedroom blaze breaks out at Hamilton home causing around $100K in damages
