Seth Bertrand received a nine-month jail sentence and three years of probation in a Windsor courtroom on Wednesday after being involved with a terrorist group.
He was found guilty back in August 2025.
From February to May 2022, Bertrand applied to join the National Socialist Order to promote its white supremacist beliefs.
The court also determined that he vandalized the WETrans Centre with offensive graffiti and threw a brake rotor through its front window.
Additionally, he damaged the tires of a vehicle parked outside the home of a same-sex couple and left behind a note reading “The Atom Waffen knows who you are!”
This note included Nazi symbols and the phrase “hail Hitler”.
“”Terrorism rooted in white supremacist ideology is not an abstract threat; it is a deliberate strategy aimed at normalizing hatred-infused violence. The discrete acts directed locally at individuals were intended to publicly call into question through violence the legitimacy of full participation in Canadian society of members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The end purpose is to contribute to a larger destabilization,” said George Dolhai, Director of Public Prosecutions. “This case affirms that offences motivated by hatred and extremist ideology have no place in Canadian society.”
