This weekend might be quite rainy in parts of southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada has put out a special weather statement for Bruce County, Chatham-Kent, Grey County, Huron County, Perth County, Sarnia-Lambton, Wellington County, and Windsor-Essex.
Weather experts are monitoring a system that could deliver up to 50 millimetres of rain from Saturday morning through Sunday morning, although Environment Canada mentioned that there might be even more.
“Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southwestern Ontario in the morning before moving into the Greater Golden Horseshoe in the afternoon,” read the statement from Environment Canada. “Given the potential for slow-moving showers and thunderstorms and for some areas to receive multiple rounds of precipitation, local amounts exceeding 50 millimetres are possible.”
Regions east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay may experience additional rainfall on Sunday.
“Note that rainfall amounts will be highly variable across the region, and not all areas will receive this much rain,” added the statement. “There remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts.”
