Even though summer hasn’t officially started, we’re in for some serious heat.

Environment Canada has put out a yellow heat warning for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton, beginning Wednesday and expected to last at least until Thursday.

The weather forecast predicts daytime temperatures could go above 30 C, while overnight lows will stay above 20 C, giving us very little break from the warmth.

Humidex levels might range from 36 C to 40 C.

“The heat event may continue Friday into Saturday, although confidence is low at this stage,” read the warning from Environment Canada. “Areas near Lake Huron and Lake Erie will likely be cooler.”

If you’re working outside, it’s really important to drink plenty of water and apply sunscreen. If you don’t have air conditioning at home, try to find a cooling centre, community centre, library, or a shaded park to stay cool.

Environment Canada advises planning outdoor work or activities during the cooler parts of the day if you can. And always remember not to leave people or pets inside parked cars on hot days.
