Windsor Police hosted a special send-off for a York Regional Police Officer who is running and cycling from Windsor to Ottawa to raise awareness and support for neurodiverse kids and their families.

Since 2020, Adam Mc Eachern has taken part in three 24-hour events and one 12-hour endurance challenge, raising $100,000 for Kerry’s Place Autism Services, Autism Ontario, and Special Olympics Ontario.

The funds from his latest journey will benefit Kerry’s Place Autism Services, which helps around 8,000 neurodiverse individuals in Ontario.

Mc Eachern is a dad to two neurodiverse children, Caleb and Jensen.

Many families endure wait times of two to three years just for initial assessments before they can access necessary benefits and therapies. Others face steep out-of-pocket costs for private evaluations. Mc Eachern’s mission aims to shine a light on these challenges.

He plans to run between 20 to 25 kilometres and cycle about 35 to 55 kilometres each day.

The total distance from Windsor to Ottawa is roughly 989 kilometres.
