Waterloo regional police have taken six men into custody following an investigation into the theft of trucks, trailers, and their loads in Cambridge and North Dumfries.
On March 23, police executed search warrants in Kitchener and Hamilton. They reported that during the investigation, officers recovered a stolen tractor trailer along with tools used for stealing commercial vehicles, as well as tracking devices, a GPS locator, and an electronic device for jamming telecommunications.
Officers also discovered suspected heroin and methamphetamine during their searches.
The suspects hail from Brampton, Mississauga, and Paris. Together, they face a total of 61 charges that include possession of stolen goods, motor vehicle theft, and extortion.
The men were detained for a bail hearing while the investigation continues.
