A man from Whitby is currently wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant after taking off his court-mandated GPS ankle bracelet.
Nour Marakah, 34, was found guilty in a home invasion robbery case back in 2019 in York Region and was released while waiting for sentencing.
As part of his release, he had to follow several conditions, including being under house arrest and wearing the GPS ankle bracelet at all times.
The device was removed on December 3, and according to York police, he has since left his home in Whitby.
A Canada Wide Warrant has now been issued for him. Investigators have followed up on various leads but are still seeking assistance from the public.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you spot him, do not approach him. Instead, call the police immediately.
Authorities are encouraging Marakah to consult with a lawyer and surrender himself.
Police also want to remind everyone that anyone who aids the suspect could face charges.
Marakah is described as having long black hair, standing 5’9″ tall and weighing about 210 lbs.
He’s wanted for failing to adhere to his judicial release order.
If you see him, contact York police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7008 so an officer can be dispatched to your location.
