Lacrosse Canada is launching a new national box lacrosse championship in Whitby.

From August 9-15 at Iroquois Park, six of the top provincial teams in Canada, featuring the best women athletes under 22, will compete for the Carol Patterson Cup.

Teams are traveling to Whitby from Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, First Nations, Nova Scotia and Manitoba.

“Bringing the Carol Patterson Cup to Whitby means more than just hosting a tournament,” said Audrey Beattie, Chair of the Carol Patterson Cup. “We are giving female athletes the opportunity to go further than provincials and helping them achieve their goals of playing at a junior level. The talent that stems from these women is unbelievable, and we are honoured to be able to host them this year. We look forward to a week of high-level lacrosse and inspiring young athletes all over Canada.”

The tournament will follow a single-division format with round robin play leading into medal games. Each team will participate in five round robin games before playoffs happen on the final day.

The aim of the Carol Patterson Cup is to promote women’s box lacrosse both nationally and internationally.

“The inaugural Carol Patterson Cup is a historic step forward for junior women’s box lacrosse and for Lacrosse Canada as a standalone national championship built on the foundation of those who came before,” said Ashley Bull, National Championships Coordinator. “These athletes are now at the forefront, setting the standard for what’s next. This event creates real visibility, real opportunity, and a clear path to higher levels including the world stage. These athletes have showcased immense talent, dedication, passion, and commitment and now have something bigger to play for.”

More details about the schedule and ticket information for the Carol Patterson Cup will be shared in upcoming months.
