Durham Region police are searching for a suspect after a bullet struck a glass door at a house in Whitby on Canada Day.

According to a statement, police arrived at the area of Prince of Wales Drive and Regal Briar Street, close to Thickson and Manning roads, just before 11:30 p. m. on July 1, following reports of an armed individual.

They found a bullet inside the home that had come through a glass door.

Investigators noted that people were present in the house during the shooting, but fortunately, no one was hurt.

“There is evidence to suggest that the firearm was used in the greenspace east of Prince of Wales Drive and the bullet travelled into the residence,” they stated in their release.

Anyone who has video footage from that time is encouraged to reach out to Durham police at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1845, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
