A resident of Whitby is facing charges related to a bus rollover that left 33 individuals injured last summer in northern Ontario.
Emergency teams responded to the single-vehicle incident on Highway 516, close to Sioux Lookout, just before 6 p. m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
The OPP reported that all 33 individuals were taken to hospitals with various injuries. Additionally, one person was flown by air ambulance to a trauma center due to severe injuries.
According to reports, the bus was carrying adult tree planters.
This week, the OPP announced they have filed charges against one individual.
Taylor Hagen, 23 years old and from Whitby, has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.
The accused is set to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on Nov. 3, 2026.
The Sioux Lookout OPP advises all drivers to stay aware of their surroundings at all times.
