Two individuals are facing charges following a string of carjackings.

On Saturday at 4:40 p. m., Durham police responded to reports of a suspicious person near Mc Quay Boulevard and Renfield Crescent.

According to authorities, two men approached a woman outside her house and demanded her car keys.

She managed to get inside her home, prompting them to leave.

Just minutes later, police received another report of a carjacking in the vicinity.

They say a taxi driver was parked on Renfield Crescent and Jacob Drive when two masked suspects entered the cab and ordered him to hand over the keys.

The driver exited the vehicle, and the suspects drove off in the taxi.

A short while later, police were alerted about another carjacking at Dundas Street and Fothergill Court.

In this incident, a Lexus was parked outside a residence. The driver was at the back of the vehicle when the suspects approached, brandishing a handgun at the passenger in the front seat.

Officers reported that they ordered the passenger out of the vehicle before fleeing in both the taxi and Lexus.

With help from Air1, officers located the stolen taxi in Whitby and apprehended one suspect.

A search of that vehicle uncovered a loaded handgun along with cocaine and methamphetamine.

The stolen Lexus was found nearby Rossland Road East and Wilson Road North in Oshawa.

Police searched further and discovered the second suspect carrying a loaded rifle as well as fentanyl.

Rhys Croasdale, 25, without a permanent address is charged with multiple offenses including: Robbery x3; Disguise with Intent x4; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Dangerous Operation of Conveyance; Robbery using a Restricted or Prohibited Weapon; Point Firearm; Carry Concealed Weapon; Possession Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm; Possession for Trafficking – Cocaine; Possession for Trafficking – Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Release Order x4

At his arrest, CROASDALE was already under release orders related to firearm charges and had outstanding warrants from two other police departments.

Nicholas Morton, 29, from Belleville is also charged with various offenses including: Robbery x2; Disguise with Intent x3; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Robbery Using a Restricted or Prohibited Weapon; Point Firearm; Carry Concealed Weapon; Possession Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm and Possession for Trafficking – Fentanyl

Both suspects are being held for bail hearings.

Investigators are asking anyone who has information about these incidents to contact the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
