A man from Vaughan, Ont., has been charged after police discovered over $5,700 worth of baby formula and hygiene items in his vehicle following an alleged attempt to make a fraudulent purchase at a grocery store in Whitby.
According to Durham Regional Police, officers responded to the Real Canadian Superstore in Whitby on July 7 after loss prevention staff reported that a man was trying to fraudulently buy baby formula, feminine hygiene products, and other items.
Authorities stated that the suspect was apprehended, and later they identified his vehicle where they found the stolen goods along with a replica handgun.

Aoqi Xu, 21, from Vaughan, has been charged with fraud over $5,000, unauthorized use of credit card data and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Xu has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court.
The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
