A 24-year-old man has passed away following a fight in a Whitby parking lot on Saturday night, according to police.

Authorities responded to reports of a disturbance near Coloborne Street East and Green Street in Whitby around 11:55 p. m., as stated by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) in a news release.

At the scene, officers found a man who had been assaulted and he was taken to the hospital, police reported.

Thomas Holm, 24, from Whitby later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Ajax and charged him with manslaughter in connection with this incident. He is currently being held for a bail hearing, said the DRPS.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to reach out to the DRPS or Crime Stoppers.
