Exciting Weekend Activities in Waterloo Region

As May wraps up, expect sunny weather with mild temperatures, making it feel like a summer weekend packed with activities in the area.

Awakened Voices Narratives: The Queen’s Bush Edition shares the stories of early Black settlers in Ontario through engaging performances and music.

This Saturday’s show highlights the Queen’s Bush Settlement, situated at the border of Waterloo region and Wellington county, which was home to many free and formerly enslaved Black residents. The performance starts at 3 p. m. at Gale Presbyterian Church in Elmira.

A Magic and Shenanigans tour is happening in uptown Waterloo. This ticketed walking tour features a comedic guide taking you to various spots where magicians will entertain and amaze attendees.

The much-loved Waterloo Art Market returns! Join on Friday from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. at Waterloo Public Square, where over 100 local artists, crafters, and makers will showcase their work alongside live music from local musicians.

The Ward Night Market kicks off its first outdoor event of the year on Friday night from 6 p. m. to 10 p. m. on Ontario Street in Guelph, featuring local artisans, vintage goods, art, food, music, and more.

The Waterloo Potters’ Workshop is hosting their Celebrate Summer sale on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m., located within Waterloo Park inside the Jacob Eby Farmhouse.

If you’re headed to Fergus, don’t miss the Meadows Music Festival running Friday and Saturday. Country night on Friday features Cameron Whitcomb and Dallas Smith among others. On Saturday enjoy acts like Yukon Blonde, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Wild Rivers, Soft Cult and Arkells.

The Kitchener Panthers will be playing in Chatham on Friday night before moving next door to Guelph on Saturday afternoon for another game against Hamilton that Sunday afternoon.

After facing off against the Panthers at home on Saturday, the Guelph Royals will head over to London for a game Sunday afternoon.
