It’s hard to believe we’re about to turn the page on another month, and the Toronto Blue Jays are still playing baseball.
The World Series has everyone hooked, and there are several local watch parties lined up for Game 6 on Friday night (and possibly Game 7 on Saturday night if it comes to that).
Of course, Friday night is Halloween, so get ready for kids in costumes excitedly going door-to-door for candy.
The YMCA of Three Rivers along with Early Years Child Care Navigators of Waterloo Region are hosting a free child health fair Saturday afternoon at the Williamsburg Community Centre in Kitchener. You’ll find local health services there plus free developmental screenings for children under six. Drop-ins are welcome, but you can also register online.
This Sunday from 12:30 p. m. to 4 p. m., join the Huron Cultural Diwali event at the Breslau Community Centre.
A soup and stroll event will be happening Saturday at Mc Dougall Cottage in Cambridge, featuring a tour of Galt’s architecture along with homemade Scotch Broth soup. Registration is required.
Another soup-related event is Sensational Elora’s Soup Off and Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Centre Wellington Food Bank taking place Sunday afternoon where you’ll have a chance to sample various soups from local chefs. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
The Kitchener Rangers will play at home on Friday night against the Sudbury Wolves before heading out on Saturday to face off against the Brampton Steelheads.
The Guelph Storm will host one game this weekend as they take on the Sarnia Sting Sunday at 2 p. m.
And don’t forget, it’s time to “fall back” an hour this weekend as clocks change early Sunday morning.
The annual Pumpkin Walk happens at Fiddlesticks Community Centre in Cambridge on Saturday too, accepting pumpkin drops between 8 a. m. and 5:30 p. m. at their location of 71 Cowan Blvd., inviting folks back later that evening around 6:30 p. m. for a stroll while enjoying hot chocolate or apple cider.
The Art Gallery of Guelph welcomes carved pumpkin donations for a group display; drop-off time is noon until seven o’clock in their sculpture park located at358 Gordon St., where battery-operated tealights will be provided-lighting up those pumpkins around eight o’clock.
Lastly, join us for Pumpkin Promenade in Guelph’s Ward neighbourhood this Saturday morning; drop-off takes place at Tytler School located at121 Ontario St., which will feature your contributions as part of Haunted Halls of Tytler event including live music, kids’ area, and other fun activities. The entry fee for Haunted Hallways is $2.

Post-Halloween Pumpkin Activities
There are some fun events giving jack-o-lanterns one last moment in the spotlight. The Rockway Gardens Pumpkin Parade is set for Saturday evening where you can drop off pumpkins starting at 6 p. m., then enjoy their glow from 6 p. m. until 8 p. m. Afterward, pumpkins will be donated to local farms for feeding plants and animals.
