The case originates from an event in March 2024 when Lotz and former Town Supervisor Don Trout are said to have entered the Highway Department and damaged a television. Both individuals have pleaded not guilty. As reported by Finger Lakes Times, Trout, facing a felony third-degree burglary charge along with seven misdemeanors and a violation, is also due for pretrial motions on March 18. State Police arrested both men in January 2025, and six months later they were indicted by a Seneca County grand jury.
