York police reported that three individuals were taken into custody following a commercial break and enter in Vaughan on Saturday morning.

Around 2 a. m., officers received a call about a commercial break-in near Kipling and Highway 7 in Vaughan, Duty Insp. Peter Cheung said. Upon arrival, they spotted one suspect leaving the area in a stolen car, he mentioned.

“The suspect tried to break containment, but eventually four police cars successfully contained the vehicle,” Cheung told CBC Toronto at the scene. At least two police cars are “no longer operational,” he stated.

Another suspect attempted to escape, leading to a brief foot chase, according to Cheung. All three suspects were apprehended, and police also discovered a loaded firearm.

One suspect was taken to the hospital but wasn’t seriously injured, Cheung noted.
