Nearly 10,000 residents in Vaughan have had their power restored after an outage caused by a fire that impacted equipment, as reported by Alectra Utilities.

The outage began shortly after 11:30 a. m. on Friday, with power being restored between 3 p. m. and 5 p. m.

Alectra mentioned earlier on social media that some isolated outages were occurring due to salt contamination.

“When salt mixes with moisture, it can create electrical arcing on power lines and equipment, sometimes leading to pole fires or flickering,” read the post.
