A man from Windsor is facing first-degree murder charges linked to a double homicide that occurred just north of Toronto.
York Regional Police have put out a warrant for the capture of Gerard Murray, 48, who resides in Windsor, following a shooting incident in Vaughan last month.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire outside a residence near Kaiser Drive and Forest Drive around 5:30 p. m. on May 13.
Officers discovered two men outside the house with multiple gunshot wounds; sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports.
During their investigation, police received information about an abandoned blue SUV that had been set ablaze in the vicinity of Huntington Road and Kirby Road.
Investigators found that this vehicle was used by the suspects both before and after the shooting. The SUV had been reported stolen from Toronto.
“Investigative efforts led to the identification of three men who were believed to have been occupants in the same SUV,” said police in a news release.
On May 28, investigators executed a search at a home in Toronto where they seized a loaded firearm along with materials “believed to be used in the making of explosives,” which included a detonator, pipe, and bolts.
A simultaneous search conducted in Windsor and Hamilton that same day uncovered three more firearms and an extended magazine, as reported by police.

Michele Moscone, 27, from Toronto is facing two counts of first-degree murder along with arson causing property damage and several firearms- and explosives-related charges.
Glen Mousseau, 55, also from Windsor is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, arson causing property damage, and various firearms offenses.
The search for the third suspect remains ongoing.
Police mentioned that Murray is known to frequent areas across southwestern Ontario between Windsor and the Greater Toronto Area.
“Investigators are releasing his image and are appealing to the public for any information on his whereabouts,” said police in a statement on Monday. “He is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in.”
“Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to him may be subject to criminal charges.”
The investigation continues without pause.
