One person has died after an industrial accident in Vaughan on Thursday, according to York Regional Police.

Authorities received a call about the incident just after 2:30 p. m.

A heavy slab of concrete fell on an employee at a manufacturing facility located near Keele Street and Teston Road, police informed CBC Toronto.

A 63-year-old man was declared dead at the scene, police reported.

The Ministry of Labour confirmed to CBC Toronto via an emailed statement that it had been notified of a workplace incident in the Maple area of Vaughan on Thursday and that a ministry inspector has been assigned to look into it.
