The US Senate committee looking into Dr. Anthony Fauci has received duplicated information from an i Phone he used during his leadership of the US response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This could provide lawmakers with more records regarding his actions in office, as reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
The Department of Health and Human Services handed over the material to the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which is led by Republican Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin.
A representative for Johnson stated that Fauci used the phone while he was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. It wasn’t immediately clear what specific records were included in the copied material or when investigators would start their review.
This news came just days after HHS provided copies of Fauci’s journals from the pandemic period to Congress, making them public soon after. Johnson and fellow Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky have been intensifying their demands for Fauci to share details about health measures related to the pandemic, federally funded coronavirus research, and COVID-19’s origins.
Paul and Johnson have also received millions more pages of documents related to Fauci from government servers, according to sources familiar with the situation, and are pursuing additional records. At least four states led by Republicans have initiated their own investigations concerning Fauci.

Senate continues questioning Fauci about COVID-19 response
The recent transfer aligns with a meeting scheduled at 8:30 a. m. Thursday by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in Washington, where senators are expected to vote on whether or not to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress. Paul, who chairs this committee, introduced a resolution for contempt on Tuesday.
Fauci chose not to answer over 100 questions when he testified before this committee under subpoena on July 29, consistently invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
