Explore the story of A Black Panther in the Great White North during Toronto’s longest-running Black Futures Month festival, Kuumba, at Harbourfront Centre.

Join playwright and screenwriter Darren Anthony for a workshop on his new play, A Black Panther in the Great White North, presented in partnership with Harbourfront Centre x Black Arts Project.

Supported by: Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Black Arts, Canada Arts Council, Banff Playwrights Lab, and Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals.

About the Play: Based on true events – In 1969, just days before his tragic assassination, Deputy Chairman Fred Hampton of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party is invited to speak at the University of Saskatchewan by a group of student activists. Determined to challenge the racial bias around them, these students bring Hampton’s much-feared Black Panther philosophy to the heart of the Great White North.

Two Nights Only:

Feb 20 & Feb 21, 7:00 PM

Location: Harbourfront Centre

Tickets: $10-$20 (Pay What You Can) – Limited availability

Artwork by: Mark Liwi Stoddart
