The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Thunder Bay report that Highway 102 has been completely reopened after a tragic single-vehicle crash involving a full-size SUV, which resulted in the deaths of two people and left one person injured.
The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, along with the OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team, have wrapped up their investigation at the scene, and traffic is now flowing normally in both directions.

Officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking into a fatal collision involving one vehicle.
On Friday, August 28, 2026, around 12:30 p. m. EDT, OPP officers along with emergency medical services were called to respond to reports of an accident involving a full-size SUV on Highway 102 near Silver Falls Road.
At the scene, two individuals-a 67-year-old man and a 48-year-old man from Thunder Bay-were pronounced dead. A third person was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
A stretch of Highway 102 between Sistonens Corners and Mapleward Road will remain closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team continues their investigation.
