The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has confirmed that a plane made an emergency landing on Highway 587, northeast of Thunder Bay, Ont., on Monday due to an engine failure.

The incident in Pass Lake involved a privately registered Cessna 182P “that declared an emergency and conducted a forced landing,” TSBC spokesperson Liam Mac Donald told in an email.

Three people were aboard at the time, and no injuries were reported, Mac Donald said.

“We are gathering information but have not deployed investigators,” he wrote.

Pass Lake is a small, unincorporated community in the Thunder Bay district, located about 55 kilometres northeast of the city.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region received a report around 2:45 p. m. ET on Monday, as stated by regional media and communications co-ordinator Erin Mc Crea.

“The pilot was able to safely land the plane and Highway 587 was only partially closed. The plane was removed shortly after,” she said.

Even though fire crews were called out, no response was necessary, according to the Pass Lake Volunteer Fire Protection Team’s post on Facebook on Monday.
