A two-day enforcement effort targeting unsafe commercial vehicles in Perth South resulted in 20 charges.

Stratford police collaborated with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario to carry out the safety checks on Perth Road 113 and Perth Line 26 on April 20 and 21.

“These enforcement initiatives are an important part of keeping our roads safe and ensuring compliance with provincial regulations,” police said.

The majority of the charges, totaling 12, were for overweight axles during a reduced load period. Two vehicles were charged for speeding and having an unsecured load. Additionally, there was one charge each for an overweight vehicle that violated a permit, an expired permit, failure to show the annual inspection sheet, and noncompliance with emissions regulations.

Three inspected vehicles were also taken out of service, and two sets of license plates were confiscated after the vehicle status was changed to unfit.
