Ontario Provincial Police have taken one individual into custody related to a homicide case in Simcoe and are actively searching for a person who is currently missing.

Officers were first dispatched to a residence on Head Street South on Oct. 5 where they discovered a deceased woman aged 71.

The police arrested a 45-year-old man from Simcoe for second-degree murder on Friday, and he was set to appear in court on Saturday.

Sgt. Ed Sanchuk confirmed that the accused is the son of the deceased woman.

An OPP news release indicates that officers are also worried about the welfare of a missing man, age 49, who was last seen on Head Street South on Oct. 4.

They describe him as white, approximately 5’10”, with long dirty blond hair often styled in a ponytail and sporting a long beard.
