As the Sept. 3 byelection nears, Elections Ontario has released its list of candidates aiming to take over after Caroline Mulroney stepped down.
Nominations for the Sept. 3 byelections in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, Scarborough Southwest, and York-Simcoe have closed, and you can now find a complete list of candidates for these three districts at elections. on. ca.
Here’s the breakdown:
Six candidates from six parties are running in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek
Seven candidates (including one independent) and six parties are competing in Scarborough Southwest
Seven candidates from seven different parties are running in York-Simcoe.
In York-Simcoe, the candidates include Gerald Auger (Ontario Party), Sean Conroy (Libertarian), Naomi Davison (Liberals), Dr. David Ghobrial (New Blue), Susan Lahey (Progressive Conservatives), Bobby Nikmard (New Democrats), and Matt Pearce (Green Party).
Voter information cards will be sent to those on the voter list within these districts. Although these cards aren’t necessary to vote, residents can verify, update, or add their details to the voter list until Aug. 24 at registertovoteon. ca to ensure a smoother voting experience on election day.
Voters can also access a scannable version of their voter information card along with a complete candidate list by creating an account on the Elections Ontario app.
There are various options and days available to cast your vote during this byelection. If you want to vote early before election day, you can do so at your local election office until Sept. 2 or at advance polls from Aug. 26 to 28. Voters can also apply online at elections. on. ca by Aug. 28 for mail-in ballots.
