Ontario Provincial Police took a Simcoe man into custody on Thursday after a search in Norfolk County uncovered weapons, stolen items, and suspected illegal drugs.
Officers from the Haldimand Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit carried out a search warrant at a residence on Mc Dowell Rd. East in Simcoe.
According to investigators, they discovered and confiscated several items including: stolen property, prohibited weapons, some Canadian currency, replica firearms, and an undisclosed quantity of suspected illegal drugs along with drug paraphernalia.
The total value of all the seized items exceeds $15,000.
Dalton Chanyi, 29 years old, from Simcoe faces charges for possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose, possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and having a Schedule 1 substance with the intent to sell.
Chanyi is currently in custody and is set to appear at a courthouse in Simcoe on Tuesday.
