Sarnia, Ont., police report that they have taken a suspect into custody who is accused of killing a “very well-liked” man at Lambton College earlier this month.

On Monday, investigators revealed that Kyaw “Chin” Doe, thought to be hiding, was located inside a residence in London, Ont.

A $50,000 reward had been offered for information leading to Doe’s arrest. He was identified as the main suspect in the April 10 incident that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Dane Nisbet. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of London police’s emergency unit “contained” the house where Doe was found, and he eventually gave himself up, according to police.

The 24-year-old has now been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

“The Sarnia Police Service extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dane Nisbet,” Chief Derek Davis stated in a press release.

“This has been devastating to them and to our community. We hope that this arrest brings a small measure of comfort as we continue to feel the grief from Dane’s loss.”

Kyaw Doe is seen in these photos provided by Sarnia police.

Det.-Sgt. Kent Jamieson previously explained that Doe and three associates – one male and two females – got into an argument with another group at the campus bar which then escalated outside before shots were fired.

The four individuals left the scene in a Toyota Prius. One woman exited the vehicle before it continued on toward London, Jamieson noted.

On April 11, authorities executed search warrants at two residences in London. Officers recovered the car and apprehended one suspect.

Ava-Leigh Lightheart and Johnathan Osborne-Walsh, both 19, are each facing multiple charges including being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Nisbet played hockey for teams like North Middlesex Stars, Mooretown Flags, Sarnia Legionnaires and Lambton Jr. Sting Triple-A over his career; he was described as “very well-liked among all community members I’ve met who knew him,” said Jamieson.

“He had various career interests that he was just getting started on,” he added.
