The Town of Tecumseh is putting funds saved from a project towards ongoing stormwater management efforts.
The $5.2 million remaining from the Tecumseh Hamlet and Manning Road Secondary Plan Area project will be directed to the construction of two new stormwater management ponds.
Initially, Tecumseh received $15.1 million from the provincial government for this project, which aims to lessen flooding risks in the area and support the development of up to 6,000 new homes.
“Through our government’s $4-billion Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, we are protecting Ontario by investing in local infrastructure that drives economic growth, creates jobs, and strengthens communities,” said Ontario Acting Infrastructure Minister Todd Mc Carthy. “By working with the Town of Tecumseh, we are pleased to support the town’s reallocation of cost savings to fund new infrastructure projects that will support new housing and build a more resilient community.”
The Tecumseh Hamlet project has recently been completed.
This funding is part of Queens Park’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
