Multiple local towns have put fire bans in place as the weekend approaches.

The Village of Point Edward, Petrolia, Plympton-Wyoming, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, and Lambton Shores have all halted open-air burn permits until conditions get better.

The temporary fire bans aim to cut down on smoke and safeguard the health and safety of residents during this ongoing air quality situation.

This includes restrictions on campfires, brush piles, and other outdoor flames.

On Wednesday, Environment Canada issued an orange air quality warning for Sarnia-Lambton. The national weather service indicated that poor air quality might continue into the weekend.

For more details, check out the Air Quality Ontario website.
