After a search lasting five and a half hours, emergency teams have found the body of a swimmer who went missing in Lake Huron.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Marine 1, 2, and 3 were sent out at around 3 p. m. on Monday to help a swimmer in trouble near the Cove.
Fire officials stated that an extensive search was carried out with help from witnesses and specialized tools, including sonar and 3D imaging technology.
Members from the Sarnia Police Service, Point Edward Fire and Rescue, Lambton EMS, the Canadian Coast Guard, and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Dive Team also joined in the search effort.
Sarnia Fire Rescue confirmed that a body was recovered from the water and expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
No further details about the individual’s identity have been shared yet.
