People in a southern Ontario city and town affected by severe flooding from consecutive storms are receiving support from Bruce Power.
The nuclear power plant is donating $100,000 worth of supplies and equipment to St. Catharines and the Town of Lincoln. This comes after the Niagara region experienced about a quarter of its usual annual rainfall within just three days: July 27, 28, and August 2. The unusual heavy rain caused widespread flooding and damage, prompting both St. Catharines and Lincoln to declare a state of emergency.
To assist with the recovery efforts, Bruce Power has provided small generators, construction-grade garbage bags, heavy-duty trash bags, cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, disinfectants, mold-removal products, paper goods, laundry detergent, baby diapers, personal hygiene items, fans, and dehumidifiers.
“By leveraging our strong supplier relationships and procurement capabilities, we were able to quickly secure and coordinate the delivery of critical recovery supplies to Niagara Region,” said Jeff Holland, the director of supply chain at Bruce Power.
Local officials and emergency management teams are collaborating with Bruce Power to ensure that the supplies reach those who need them most.
