One person has lost their life, and another is facing serious injuries following a collision late Monday on Confederation Line in Sarnia, according to police reports.

The incident took place just after 11 p. m. between Modeland Road and Blackwell Sideroad, as stated in a news release from the Sarnia Police Service issued on Tuesday.

Both individuals were initially transported to the hospital with injuries that were deemed life-threatening.

Unfortunately, one was later pronounced dead.

Confederation Line from Modeland Road to Blackwell Sideroad remains shut down for traffic and is expected to stay closed for the remainder of the day while an investigation is conducted, police noted.

They are advising drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

The authorities also urge anyone who might have information about the crash or video footage from the scene at that time to get in touch with police or Crime Stoppers.
