A Richmond Hill man who hit the jackpot in the lottery chose not to share the news with anyone.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced on Tuesday that he kept his significant win from the March 4 Lotto 6/49 draw under wraps.

But now, the word is out, as OLG revealed that 47-year-old Donel Porquez won a second prize totaling $265,952.40.

Porquez mentioned that he decided to buy a ticket because something told him to do so.

“It was like a little voice in the back of my head,” he said.

“When I checked my ticket at the store, I couldn’t believe what I saw. The hair on my body was standing up and I started to sweat.”

In shock, Porquez scanned the ticket with his phone for confirmation. It verified that he had indeed won the big prize.

“I’m so excited and grateful for this win. It’s a big help,” he said.

“I’m shocked and speechless.”

The winning ticket was bought in Thornhill at Petro-Canada on Rutherford Road.
