York Regional Police (YRP) have taken an 18-year-old into custody and are still looking for three other suspects after a violent home invasion in Richmond Hill that resulted in injuries to a homeowner.
According to police, the break-in occurred on April 28 just before 4:30 a. m., when three individuals broke a front window to gain access to a residence near Hyde Park Drive and Red Oak Drive. At least one of the intruders was armed with a metal object.
The group confronted the homeowner, who was reportedly assaulted during the incident. Authorities state that no demands were made, and the suspects quickly fled, entering a black SUV driven by a fourth person.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
Officers executed search warrants at a location in Kitchener on June 11. One suspect was apprehended and allegedly found with a loaded firearm. Police also seized fentanyl, crack cocaine, a replica firearm, and other controlled substances believed to be cocaine, fentanyl, and oxycodone (with an estimated street value of $10,000).
Manav Kotak, 18, from Kitchener, is facing multiple charges including robbery, disguise with intent, and several firearm-related offenses.
Authorities report that three suspects are still at large and no descriptions have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
