Billy Denault Triumphs in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke Election

The name may be new but the party remains the same as Billy Denault, a 24-year-old PC candidate from Arnprior, celebrated his victory in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.

As soon as polls closed at 9 p. m. on election night, February 27, results started rolling in and cheers filled the room where Denault’s supporters were gathered at the Clarion Hotel in Pembroke for the PC Party’s celebration.

With all 96 polls accounted for, Denault dominated the riding with a total of 24,297 votes or 54.83 per cent.

In second place was Oliver Jacob from the Liberal Party who previously served as Councillor for Mc Nab/Braeside with a total of 9,804 votes or 22.13 per cent. The NDP candidate Marshall Buchanan came in third with 6,607 votes or 14.91 per cent. Rounding out the results were Ontario Party candidate Kevin Holm with 1,587 votes, Green Party candidate Anna Dolan with 1,123 votes and Mark Dickson from New Blue Party who received 893 votes.

Speaking to his crowd of supporters along with family and friends, Denault expressed his gratitude for their endorsement.

“It feels amazing; I’m in a lot of ways speechless, but you know what? I’m ready to get to work,” Denault said. “I’m ready to get started and get going and hit the ground running and start working for the people of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.”

Denault shared an anecdote from his campaign trail about a woman from Killaloe who mentioned she preferred him going by “Billy” instead of William because it reminded her of Billy the Kid.

“And well tonight I’m going to tell you that Billy the Kid is in town and I’m ready to be Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke’s gunslinger at Queens Park,” Denault said.

He acknowledged his campaign team and supporters throughout the riding saying their hard work made this achievement possible.

“We ran a positive campaign that brought us almost everywhere across this riding-from door knocking to events-meeting people face-to-face. It’s a campaign we can all take pride in and tonight’s results clearly show that folks here agree,” he said.

“He also recognized long-serving MPP John Yakabuski whom he admired throughout most of his life.
“‘His tireless dedication to our community has left a lasting impact that cannot be overstated.’“And while we’ve only grown close more recently,” he added “I’ve greatly respected and found inspiration through his work over many years.‘To me,’ he always embodied what it means to be a true public servant.’His endorsement is high praise; and mentorship during this transition has been invaluable,” Denault stated.
