The name may have changed but the party remains as Billy Denault, a 24-year-old PC candidate from Arnprior, easily claimed victory in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.

Right after polls closed at 9 p. m. on election night, February 27th, results started to pour in and cheers filled the air from Denault’s supporters who had gathered at the Clarion Hotel in Pembroke for the PC Party’s election night celebration.
With all 96 polling stations reporting their results, Denault dominated the riding with a total of 24,297 votes or 54.83 per cent of the overall vote.
Former Township of Mc Nab/Braeside Councillor Oliver Jacob represented the Liberal Party and came in second with 9,804 votes or about 22.13 per cent. NDP candidate Marshall Buchanan placed third with 6,607 votes or around 14.91 per cent. Completing the tally were Ontario Party candidate Kevin Holm with 1,587 votes, Green Party candidate Anna Dolan with 1,123 votes and Mark Dickson from the New Blue Party who received only 893 votes.

He expressed his gratitude to his campaign team and supporters throughout the riding saying that without their hard work and commitment this win wouldn’t have been possible.
“We ran a positive campaign that took us to nearly every corner of the riding; we knocked on doors and attended events while meeting people face-to-face. It’s a campaign we can all be proud of and tonight’s results clearly indicate that residents of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke feel similarly,” he stated.
Denault also acknowledged long-serving MPP John Yakabuski whom he has admired for many years.
“His tireless dedication to our community has left a lasting impact that cannot be overstated. And while we’ve only grown close recently I’ve respected his work for quite some time now. To me he always represented what it means to be a true public servant. His endorsement is high praise; his guidance during this transition has been invaluable,” said Denault. This has not loaded yet,

Yakabuski is originally from Barry’s Bay and first got elected to represent Ontario on October second of two thousand three; he held this riding ever since then. Only his initial election was competitive back in two thousand three. Since then he’s consistently garnered over sixty percent support at each election-winning more than sixty-nine percent in twenty eighteen by an astounding margin of twenty-five thousand votes. Most recently he secured re-election for his sixth term on June second twenty twenty-two with almost sixty-two percent support. In November twenty twenty-four he announced he would not seek re-election.

The key issues many constituents voiced while out campaigning were infrastructure needs-especially regarding four-laning Highway seventeen-how Ontario will navigate through current strained relations with Canada and United States; along with health care concerns.
