One person has died after a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV in Port Elgin on Thursday.
Saugeen Shores Police Service reported the closure of Arlington Street between Eastwood Drive and River Street at 9:45 a. m. on Thursday due to the serious accident.
By 4:58 p. m., police confirmed that one driver was declared dead at the scene.
Police tape and barricades were placed near the intersection of Arlington Street and Eastwood Drive, where OPP officers were investigating.
Pylons marked off an area in the street, showing a motorcycle that had fallen over. Nearby, a white SUV was found at the entrance to a residential area, with considerable damage on the passenger side.
A high school football game scheduled for Thursday afternoon at nearby Saugeen District Senior School was cancelled because of the incident.
Saugeen Shores Police stated they will provide further updates when available and that their investigation is still ongoing.
