A fire at a house in Port Elgin has resulted in the death of a man.
Emergency services from Saugeen Shores were alerted to the incident around 11:30 a. m. on Thursday. Firefighters managed to quickly put out the flames and discovered a man inside who was unresponsive.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. His identity and age have not been disclosed.
Local authorities, along with firefighters, are working together with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Chief Coroner of Ontario to investigate what caused the fire and the man’s death.
Investigators are anticipated to return to the site on Friday.
Authorities have not revealed which street in Port Elgin experienced this fire.
