A fire at a house in Port Elgin has taken the life of a man.
Saugeen Shores police and firefighters responded to the blaze around 11:30 a. m. on Thursday. Fire crews managed to quickly put out the flames and found a man inside who was unresponsive.
The man was declared dead at the scene, according to police. His identity and age have not been disclosed.
Local authorities, along with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, are investigating what caused both the fire and the man’s death.
Investigators are expected to return to the scene on Friday.
Police have not revealed which street in Port Elgin this incident occurred on.
