A fire at a house in Port Elgin has resulted in a man’s death.
Saugeen Shores police and firefighters responded to the blaze around 11:30 a. m. on Thursday. Fire crews quickly put out the flames and found a man inside who was unresponsive.
The man was declared dead at the scene, according to police. His identity and age have not yet been disclosed.
Local authorities, along with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Chief Coroner’s office, are investigating both the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding his death.
Investigators plan to return to the site on Friday.
Police haven’t revealed which street in Port Elgin experienced the fire.
