Restaurants in Whitby and Pickering were held up at knifepoint last week, with both cases involving a suspect who threatened staff with a knife before taking cash.

Authorities responded to an armed robbery at the Little Caesars on Dundas Street in Whitby on Sunday night, shortly after 7 p. m. They reported that a man, described as Black, standing between 6’2” and 6’3” with a medium build, entered the restaurant and threatened employees with a knife while demanding money from the register. The suspect left the scene before police arrived.

Just three days earlier, officers were called to a similar situation at B Boyz restaurant on Brock Road in Pickering. The suspect, also described as Black with a medium build, entered the establishment around 10:40 p. m., threatening an employee with a knife while asking for cash. Like before, he escaped prior to police arrival.

No staff members were injured during either incident.

If anyone was nearby at the time of these events and has cell phone footage, dash cam recordings, or any information, they are encouraged to reach out to the Auto Robbery Crime Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355.

People can also provide anonymous tips to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting www. durhamregionalcrimestoppers. ca. Tipsters might be eligible for a cash reward.
