Peterborough OPP have reported the arrest of two men from Durham and one from Scarborough after trying to deceive a victim in Selwyn Township.
The victim mentioned they had a vehicle listed for sale online and someone reached out to express interest in seeing it.
On February 7, three suspects examined the car and asked to take it for a test drive.
Upon their return, they pointed out oil spills in the engine compartment and on the exhaust pipe.
The suspects claimed the vehicle required extensive repairs but proposed to buy it for a significantly lower price.
<p The seller – who was aware there were no issues with the vehicle – decided to remove it from sale after the suspects continued their lowball offers.
Law enforcement was notified, leading to the arrest of all three suspects.
Officers also found that the vehicle driven by the suspects had been purchased recently and was linked to a similar incident in another area.
The driver couldn’t provide his license or proof of insurance when approached by officers, and his license plates were registered to a different vehicle.
Marius Zorila, 31, of Pickering was arrested and charged with:

Constantin Tanase, 26, of Scarborough was arrested and charged with:
Fraud over $5,000 Mischief under $5,000 Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Michael Tanase, 22, of Ajax was arrested and charged with:
Fraud over $5,000 Mischief under $5,000 Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
All three were released with certain conditions.
