A call about intimate partner violence (IPV) has led to multiple charges against a man from Peterborough County.
On August 13 shortly after 12 p. m., the Peterborough County OPP received a report regarding an assault that occurred at a home in the area. The complainant stated that an argument escalated into physical contact. The suspect had left the scene before police arrived, so officers were given a description and the direction he went.
Officers responded quickly and had EMS come to assist the victim. The victim shared details with police, including previous incidents of assault. Other officers managed to find the suspect, who was arrested and taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
A 67-year-old man from Peterborough County was arrested and charged with:
• Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
• Assault – spousal (three counts)
• Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm (two counts)
• Careless storage of firearms, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
The accused has been released under conditions and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
